The Healthcare employee with Clinical Medical Assistant training will complete clinical, routine clerical, and organizational tasks in the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and other health practitioners. Their duties vary with the location, specialty, and size of the practice. Clinical Medical Assistants typically do the following: record patient history and measure vital signs, help the physician with patient examinations, give patient injections as directed by the physician, prepare blood for laboratory tests, organize files, draft messages, schedule appointments, and key electronic health records. Basic knowledge of insurance, billing practices, electronic health records, and hospital or laboratory procedures is preferred. The nation is entering a new era of health care where providers can use electronic health records to improve patients’ health and the way health care is delivered in this country.
