What you'll learn

Choice Career Tech’s Patient Care Technician is a course that runs for 25 weeks. Students will engage in a stimulating range of learning activities that include engagement in a stimulating range of learning activities that include patient care procedures, vital signs, measuring bleeding time, applying and removing safety features, performing a venipuncture, coughing and deep breathing exercises, obtaining specimens, heat, and cold applications, pre-and post-operative care, and more. Career Development is also obtained throughout the program.

The Healthcare employee with Patient Care Technician training will work alongside nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide direct patient care in a hospital setting.  Patient Care Technicians are employed in a wide range of healthcare settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and more.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment of Patient Care Technicians is projected to grow 33 percent from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. About 599,800 openings for Patient Care Technicians are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.

The Patient Care Technician student will complete instructional and simulation laboratory procedures for a period of up to 25 weeks in length. Successful completion of all courses is required to receive a program certificate of completion.

Program Objectives

Individuals who intend to work in the states of California or Washington should be aware that this program is not approved to prepare students to draw blood. This CCT program is aligned with and/or prepares candidates for certification or licensure in each state except California or Washington.

CCT training and related target certifications may be accepted and/or approved by your state of residency, employers reserve the right to dictate experience, prerequisite education, or certification/licensure requirements for their positions. We strongly advise students to research target job state requirements, restrictions, job posts prior to enrollment to ensure eligibility upon graduation.
